After 5 Annual Blossom2Rides

A Free* Family Friendly Ride

The ride has been discontinued. We thank our sponsors and helpers.

Riders are invited to meet any time at the Lincoln Township Library on John Beers Road in Stevensville, Michigan for a ride to Warren Dunes.

Anyone interested in a holiday "Three Beach Tour" is invited to meet at the Lincoln Township Hall & Library on Summer Holidays. Bring your own water and supplies. We will attempt this 36 mile ride on Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day holidays or weekends. Check on times according to the weather forecasts.

Double Beach Rides

And another ride choice for the 2nd & 4th Saturdays of June, July & August -  The Double Beach Ride. This will be a brisk 31 mile ride also leaving from the Library at 7 AM and returning in about 2 hours.

The Blossom2Ride is meant to be a simple and free*, family friendly bike ride. Simple, short and flat enough for the casual rider, the ride invites riders and would be riders to dust off their bikes and to come to Berrien County (in Southwest Michigan) for one of the first formal rides of the season.

Blossom2Ride History

In the past a Blossomtime bike ride has been held as part of the annual Blossomtime celebration in Berrien County, Michigan. Many cyclists welcomed this early spring ride. The Blossom2Ride brings back the early May ride with chance to celebrate God's gifts of the natural beauty of this area in the spring. The ride is planned for the afternoon of the second Saturday of May.

The Second Annual Blossom2Ride started cold and rainy, but by the time we reached the beach at Warren Dunes it was sunny.

The Third Annual ride was a beautiful but breezy day. It made for a challenging ride on the way back, but was a wonderful start.

Blossom2Ride Route

The main route takes the rider from its start at the Lincoln Township Library on John Beers Road just east of Stevensville, Michigan south toward Warren Dunes State Park and back on another route. The total route is quite flat and is about 15 miles each way (if you ride all the way to the Lake Michigan beach at Warren Dunes.)

A shorter route allows riders to return from Bridgman with a total of 14-15 miles. Several extra miles will give a look at Lake Michigan at Weco Beach.

Riders looking for a greater challenge can chose extra alternate sections that will provide some hills. How about "Mt. Baroda" anyone?

Ride Support

Support is provided by area businesses with a sag stop in Bridgman and another at Warren Dunes. Riders who need a short route could return from Bridgman.

Sponsors have included:

  • Thrivent Financial for Lutherans - North Berrien County Chapter
  • Cycle & Fitness of St. Joseph http://www.cycleandfitness.net/
  • Rogers Foodland
  • Hardings of Bridgman
  • Martin's Super Market

A FREE* RIDE

Yes, This is a FREE* ride for those who preregister (the only catch) which is made possible by our Sponsors. Starting in 2007 we ask $5 for those who wait to register on the day of the ride. These funds were donated to Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity who built 2 homes in Benton Township in 2007 and another 2 in 2008. Since they are not building any houses in Benton Harbor, in 2009 donations will go to Harbor Habitat for Humanity.

Since it can be cool in May we are making available long sleeve T-shirts. Anyone interested in a shirt needs to send the registration form or a note to blossom2ride@juno.com by May 5. A $15 donation is requested. Check back for information on a short sleeve special 5th Anniversary ride shirt.
